Les Fleurs

In my last post, I talked about intentionally recreating the woods that form a backdrop for a field of flowers at Down to Earth Farm. While the background dried, I contemplated my next step. After struggling (and finally succeeding) with recreating the color of the Gomphrena flower, I finished the scene as I remembered it.

I was harvesting trellised peas in the sun wearing my broad-rimmed camouflage hat when I felt as if someone or something was watching me. I turned to look into the shadowy trees at the back of the field and saw a cardinal. I smiled as he began to sing.

I am smitten by the outdoors and all it has to offer my soul. I bring you that scene as I remember it with “Les Fleurs.” (I invite you to explore the work as a whole, and then look for the cardinal in the shadows!)
